Robert A. M. Stern: Buildings & Projects 2004-2009 Details

Review "Stern ably tells his stories, as do the spectacular photographs and drawings in this weighty tome. Unlike many neo-conservatives who genuflect at a monolithic altar of the past, Stern has a playfully pluralistic relationship to architectural history and contemporary design. And unlike the hippest of the hip, he has no need to dadaistically defy or defame the architectural canon . . . For that and more, this book warrants our appreciative attention."—Norman Weinstein, ArchNewsNow Read more About the Author Robert A. M. Robert A. M. Stern is probably best known for his part in the revival of Shingle Style houses during the last half of the twentieth century. He has also developed along eclectic lines to produce a large array of buildings of all types and sizes in a plethora of styles. This is one of a series of monographs produced by him which provide coverage of all his projects. Each significant project is given at least one photograph and a brief written description. The floor plans which are included are miniscule to the point of being virtually useless. That is my only quibble with this book.
